MiniWise

MiniWise is a small group of persons that meet weekly with a trained Elderwise facilitator and a volunteer to form community, enjoy one another and to share in conversation. The idea is to have meaningful conversations that are tailored for persons living with dementia. People living with dementia can attend independently, with caregiver support for set up of Zoom session, or alongside a spouse, care partner or friend. The benefits include a sense of community, the opportunity to express oneself, the opportunity to be listened to and the opportunity to listen to others. In addition to delving into the week’s discussion theme, we check in, listen to a poem, share a stretch and a sense of humor. We almost always learn something new. For more information on MiniWise please contact our program coordinator using the button below.

There is no charge to attend MiniWise

ArtWise

ArtWise is a virtual version of the traditional watercolor art technique of the Elderwise program. Created as a solution to come together in community when in-person gathering was inopportune, ArtWise focuses on the pleasure of creating art in a supportive, positive environment. This hour-long program takes place in a Zoom room, each participant accompanied by a friend or care partner. After a lively check-in about the theme for the week, participants draw and paint to the sounds of ambient music. Towards the end of the hour, the group shares their art piece to the encouragement and accolades of the participants. ArtWise is ongoing and is scheduled in six-week increments. To learn more about the program and schedule for the upcoming series, contact our program coordinator using the button below.

“As a caregiver, it makes me happy to paint and it makes me delighted to see her happy. Makes me cry. I love being part of this group. I'm seeing, being and learning deeper ways to communicate. Painting like this is something I can bring to other clients.”
